The Community RPG Status Scale

The Status Scale is to show a numerical value for the progress of a Community RPG. Community RPG creators give progress status values for their RPG based on how far they have progressed in developing their RPG. Below is a scale of what the status values mean.

1 - Alpha Stage

At this stage, the RPG has just started. Patience is a virtue here, as things are in the proccess of starting up. Ideas from the creator may be singular, although a partnership may be in place to gain the help and support of another admin. There are very few members registered, as ideas are slowly being transferred from the mind and paper to the forums. Most of the various RPG elements, including concept systems, races, classes, genre, theme, storyline, and much more, are in the works and being decided over.

2 - Beta Stage

At this stage, the basics of the RPG has been established. Although not many people may be present at this stage, it is nonetheless slowly starting up. Forum areas and rules/guidelines may have been created thus far. Staffing is still a problem, however. The concept systems of the RPG are just being started and developed in the forum. There are a few more members, though not necessairly active ones. Some of the actual playing concepts, such as battling, health, magic, currency, races, and classes have been decided upon and given their own announcement so other users can use them as reference tools. Though, story, plot, and theme may still be up in the air and yet decided.

3 - Gamma Stage

At this stage, all of the major areas have been created. Different concept systems have been implimented or are in the procces of being completed. Such systems may include weapons systems, leveling, health, money, stores, and more. Though, these concepts may still be up for change, drastic or minimal, if the need arises. This stage really starts to concentrate on story and plot, attempting to come up with an "overall quest" or common goal which the players of the RPG strive to accomplish. Some to all of the moderators have been assigned positions, although some areas may still be absent of a moderator. Moderators may have started or completed their assigned areas in terms of creating new places within their forums or even writing up preliminary quests to get the ball rolling. A generally good user-base now takes form, where usually 10-20 have already registered, giving the RPG a sense of getting on track.

4 - Delta Stage

At this stage, the concept systems of the RPG are generally being completed and finished. A RPG creator might, at this stage, start looking towards creating more detail to the already-established theme and plot. A storyline may also be in development. Staffing is not that big of an issue any longer, although morale of moderators could be increased to get them to log in more often and create new battles, quests, and events. Moderators have been assigned their positions and most of their areas have been completed in terms of filled areas. Users generally sign on periodically in which battles, quests, events, and mini stories may move at a couple days pace to a week, though usually not more. This is when the RPG really starts to go public, as advertisements may be made on other sites and affiliations, partnerships, and friendships may start to take form.

5 - Epsilon Stage

At this stage, the RPG is undergoing general tuneups in which greater detail is integrated into the RPG. Most to all of the concept systems have been completed, and a storyline, if chosen, has been implimented. There are many users that are continually active in a way that battles, quests, events, and mini stories move along at a fairly smooth pace, where follow-ups by users and moderators occur within a day or two at most. Moderators have finished their areas and the majority to all areas have been assigned moderators. Staffing is not a big issue at all, and the next issue to be taken up is that of policy keeping and coming up with new ideas on how to improve the RPG to make it more interesting and attractive for old and new users alike.
