Odaigahara is one of the rainiest places in the world, with an average rainfall of 5000 millimeters. This rainfall has made this exemplary virgin forest a precious paradise for flora and fauna. The area is divided into two areas; East Odai, which contains a number of major scenic spots such as Mt. Hidegatake and Orochigura, and West Odai, which is covered by the virgin forest of Odaigahara. Entering West Odai requires filing for a permit.
