Arcana

(NOTE: ARCANA is a completely original role play, not based on any game or the like, though inspired by various works, accordingly it features completely original settings, situations, & characters thus any similarities to real life, or established settings/situations/characters are just coincidences)

Legend says that once long ago the four kingdoms of Disks, Cups, Rods, and Swords were part of a much larger world, that the mist walls didn't exist and the Arcana all lived in the Mist World separate from ours.

However one day that all changed. Accounts from that day report huge geysers of mist shot up to the sky before spreading out to the familiar Mist Wall that now surrounds the four kingdoms. In addition it was with these geysers that the first Arcana were summoned from the World of Mist into our world.

The next several centuries were lost in a fog of confusion and panic as Humans fought both Arcana and each other in a desperate struggle to survive. When the dust settled a new power emerged; Arcanists, men and women who could summon Arcana from the World of Mist and bind them to themselves and others allowing the Arcanist to use their power to protect themselves and others from the rouge Arcana stalking the wilderness.

Over the ages the Arcanist have developed a set standard for their trade. Each Arcanist has a personal Arcana bound to either themselves or an object of some value to them. These Familiar Arcana make up the base of their power and accompanies the Aracanist through out their career as an Arcanist. Then in addition to that they will bind additional Arcana as tools, servants, or as powerful allies.

From their what an Arcanist does is up to them, they can join one of the many organizations spread out across the four kingdoms, taking jobs to help the people or will they ignore duty and responsibility in favor of doing whatever they want? In the end it's up to each to decide on their own as both light and dark get swallowed up in the mist.
