History
Hundreds of years in the future, humans have begun to colonize the far reaches of the galaxy. Technology was at its peak and science was breaking the limitations of space and time. The many nations of Earth were united in a common cause as Earth engaged in a galactic war against bug-like aliens. The United Earth emerged victorious; however, every alien was killed and burned in the war, massive genocide had been committed. Humans saw themselves as invincible, but nothing would prepare the galaxy for the alien’s last weapon...
The weapon, triggered on the death of the Queen alien, sent out a powerful viral wave, which traveled across space instantaneously. The WAVE was a virus that blasted from the alien's home world and fried all electrical systems, and even more chaotically, it attacked every person who had passed puberty. The virus soon died off after it had eliminated all technology and all adults.
Humans had advanced so far that nanobots served as the main way to learn and books were often hard if not impossible to find. The WAVE evidently crippled the human race’s ability to educate themselves. The result was chaos that lasted for a few hundred years. As people fought, civilizations crumbled and eventually the human race entered a stage very similar to the Stone Age. Hundreds of years passed and planets finally recovered some sense of civilization and towns began to spring up. Many planets began to slowly develop…
Background
Ceres (seer-ez), a planet on the fringes of the Old Earth Empire, was the last planet colonized before the Wave. The planet relied on the most advance technologies of the time, and after the wave hit, it too reverted back to the Stone Age. As Ceres too began to march back up the technological ladder, a man was born, an ambitious and tyrannical man. David Julius united Ceres under his iron fist. Not much is known about the rise of Julius, but his ambition and charm allowed him to amass armies simply from a speech. Under his rule, people feared for their lives, but Julius offered much to the people. Julius's rule brought security, overall well being and progress. Julius understood the power of science and organized the smartest men of the time to help progress and redevelop Old Human technology. Due to Julius, Ceres had technologies far beyond the norm. A common sight would be an uprising of peasants fighting with iron swords, being put down by Julius's army with guns. The Story of Heroes is told to start around this time.
Story
When the WAVE hit, it was intended to kill all humans; however human beings have been known to adapt and so have their bodies. When the WAVE hit and technology went cold, people became sick. It was theorized that the WAVE affected the electrical impulses in the brain and that’s how humans were killed, yet children survived. The WAVE ended up altering not only the survivors’ brains but also their genes. The WAVE ended up making some people stronger, quicker, and smarter and has even opened human beings’ connection with the an ancient energy, also known as magic. The mutations didn’t affect all humans and so those with special powers became regarded as weapons and objects and from this arises the name, Glades (gl-aids).
Wars on Ceres were led by Glades and they became revered as war heroes. Kings on Ceres prized their Glades and society developed around the training and caring for Glades. However, people began to rise against rulers as people wished for stable lives. One of such rulers is Julius, where each character’s story now begins. Glades sided with Julius or with the rebels, making Ceres a unique battlefield for freedom.
