- Located in central Kyushu, this is Japan’s southernmost ski resort. On clear days there’s a great panoramic view that includes Mt. Aso and Mt. Kuju. It has two runs: The Paradise Course has a difference in elevation of 190 meters and a longest run of 1,000 meters, and the Dynamic Course has a highest gradient of 30 degrees. At 1,610 meters, the snow is all natural and first-rate. On mornings when conditions are right, you might see the phenomenon called “unkai,” a sea of clouds.
